Kiev Auto Show

The 13th SIA Auto Show was held in Ukraine"s capital. Several hundred exhibitors from Ukraine, neighboring and overseas countries took part in the event. Over 500 vehicles were displayed for the auto show visitors. The biggest stand represented Ukrainian auto-making giant Kremenchug Auto-Making Plant. This time KrAZ made it a point to show only its newest concept models without giving up its heritage.

Auto Shanghai 2005

This is the name of the exhibition held at the Pudong suburb of China"s major megacity. Auto Shanghai is a biennale, alternating and competing with Beijing motor show. A bit of statistics: held for the 11th time, the exhibition occupied 11 hectares and attracted over 300,000 spectators. 1036 companies participated in the show, presenting the entire spectrum of automotive products.

Cowboy Motives

The notable trend of the exhibition was the number of US-manufactured trucks flooding the Russian market. Only 3-4 years ago an American truck on the Russian roads was an exotic vehicle, and today an overseas truck on the Koltsevaya highway, literally a dozen meters away from Com-Trans" open displays, could be seen practically at five minutes" intervals. According to State Traffic Safety Inspectorate (GIBDD), thousands of US trucks have already been registered in Russia…
Four companies, offering American vehicles to Russian freight forwarders, participated in the exhibition. According to almost every auto dealer, all four have customers on waiting lists. What makes US-made trucks so popular? To answer this question one only has to get inside the American truck and see the difference in the comfort level offered by US manufacturers as compared to any European counterpart. And the price — $35,000 for deluxe Freightliner Century Class, even if it is a 1988 model,- makes it all the more attractive, hence a steady and ever-growing demand. And when demand is on the rise…
